Malta is a country where solutions to problems are known but seldom acted upon.
Indeed, the headcount at the GU has doubled since the release of the iconic 'Kaxxaturi' episode. However, this significant increase was conspicuously absent from our health minister's page. Additionally, the escalating cases of asthma attacks go largely undiscussed.
The rampant cutting down of trees is another pressing concern, despite efforts by established pressure groups. Unfortunately, these groups have recently faced attacks, insults, and attempts to silence them. Perhaps the younger generation is growing weary of such arrogant and selfish behavior.
Recently, Ms. Abela suggested that we cease lamenting and instead work to improve the situation. One proposed solution is to plant more trees in our back gardens.
As if planting a few trees in our back gardens will compensate for the numerous trees being chopped down. Seriously?
Furthermore, it's essential to recognize that not every Maltese citizen possesses the capability to care for a plant, myself included. Is Ms. Abela willing to initiate courses to teach the necessary skills? Frankly, I have my doubts.
What about this :
Isn't it possible, aside from not littering, to act with basic humanity? If I'm not mistaken, individuals can have a marble memorial placed at the site where someone dies, or does this only apply to car accidents? I'm prepared to start a fund for this purpose if feasible, because this is not how we should remember a human life.
