The Maltese Baby Drug Lords are not afraid

Updated: Dec 23, 2023

Here I am, the supposedly perceived 'French girl' who was seated about five rows ahead of you.

These individuals, whom I assessed to be no older than 16 based on their appearance, were openly and comfortably discussing their 'business' on public transport. After overhearing phrases like “hallas ta hames boroz u ntik ohra b’xejn,” I was genuinely taken aback. How could they discuss such matters so openly in a public setting?

The most astonishing moment came when one of them remarked, “allahares jaqbduni u jkolli mmur il-habs, irrid nahbi l-flus kolla...” to which another responded, “u iva dak tkun ahjar minn hawn tkun qieghed go Villa, dejjem ikollok ikel lest... breakfast u tiehu shower.” I found myself pondering the conditions they must live under if basic hygiene seems restricted.

A final comment I caught was, “jiena qatt ma jkolli flus... imma tal-hobz dejjem itini b’xejn.” While this could be interpreted as generosity, it perpetuates a harmful cycle. What if such an individual were a family member? How could they discuss their illicit activities so casually?
